InfoSec Institute Announces 2018 Cybersecurity Scholarship Recipients

Expands Program to Over $130,000 in Training Opportunities for Aspiring Cybersecurity Pros

Infosec today announced winners and finalists of its 2018 Cybersecurity Scholarship Program, a new initiative designed to grow awareness of the widening cybersecurity skills and diversity gap. After receiving an overwhelming amount of qualified applicants, the company grew the program from $50,000 to $130,000 in available awards.

“After reviewing candidate applications and reading their stories, we couldn’t possibly select just four recipients,” said Jack Koziol, Infosec Founder and CEO. “There are thousands of unfilled cybersecurity positions, and this year’s scholarship recipients are exactly the type of new talent we need to fill the growing skills gap. We’re confident our Infosec boot camps will give them the skills they need to jump-start their cybersecurity careers.”

Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship

Diversity in Cybersecurity Scholarship

  • Winner: Chanel Hicks
  • Finalist: Derrick Som
  • Finalist: Michael Odesola

Military Cybersecurity Scholarship

  • Winner: Nicholas Barrett
  • Finalist: Matthew Shuter
  • Finalist: Kevin Wolf

Undergraduate Cybersecurity Scholarship

  • Winner: Jion Yi
  • Finalist: Neishanyelik Vázquez
  • Finalist: Tanner Wilson

Scholarship recipients receive free enrollment into each of the following award-winning training boot camps to jump start their cybersecurity careers. Winners in each category also receive free certification exam vouchers:
