About CompTIA Linux+

This course will discuss the CompTIA Linux+ course outline, as well as introduce the test objectives and a brief discussion of the test, including passing score and question types. Additionally, this course will introduce how to set up a lab using VirtualBox as a desktop hypervisor. Although the Linux+ is not considered a hands-on test, there are some performance-based questions and having a lab gives you the chance to get more hands-on experience, which will facilitate learning the concepts and specific commands.

The lessons in the course review managing the Linux boot process, choosing a kernel and kernel modules, configuring and troubleshooting network interfaces, working with storage devices and understanding cloud and virtualization technologies, as well as system localization options.

The lessons in this course review concepts and commands relating to software and user management, working with files and file content, understanding and managing services, review of key service types, scheduling jobs, working with Linux devices and connected hardware and graphical user interfaces.

The lessons in this course review concepts and commands related to traditional UGO file permissions of rwx, the special permissions like SetUID, SetGID and Sticky Bit. Lessons also cover advanced OS and application security through SELinux and AppArmor, as well as covering concepts like authentication, logging tools like rsyslog and the systemd journal, firewalls, backup and compression as well as general security best practices.
Domain 4: Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

This lessons in this course cover concepts and commands related to common performance issues with networking, such as dealing with delays, drops and throughput issues. Additionally, lessons include common troubleshooting tools to analyze and solve problems related to process execution and system performance, user access, file and directory access and security configurations.
Domain 5: Automation and Scripting

The lessons in this course introduce concepts related to bash variables, creating and executing scripts, working with script arguments and the basics of conditional execution and looping. In additions, lessons will cover copying projects with git, as well as managing version control through the use of git repositories, key concepts and terms related to automation and orchestration.
