Domain 1 will explore several foundational concepts of the SSCP exam. This domain will begin with reviewing what to expect from the exam, followed by core information security management concepts.

  • Code of Ethics overview and foundational security concepts Video — 00:15:15
    • An overview of foundational security concepts such as confidentiality, integrity, availability and privacy.

    • Discussion on various technical and functional controls used to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of an organization’s information systems.

    • A discussion on various industry standard life cycle processes for asset management and change management of devices and systems within organizations.

    • An overview of how the implementation of a security awareness and training program can aid an organization in protecting their systems and data against cyberthreats.

    • An overview of physical security operations that can collaborate with cybersecurity operations, and how organizations may implement physical security controls to protect their systems.

Syllabus

Course description

The following domain will begin with detailing the requirements and what to expect from the SSCP exam. Subsequent sections will focus on the core concepts of managing and operating security operations. This course will take a closer look at different aspects of security operations from code of ethics to the security controls needed to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability (CIA framework) of an organization’s information systems. The CIA framework will be a common reference throughout the entirety of the course.
