Infosec Institute Welcomes Bret Fund as SVP and General Manager

Fund leading next phase of growth, product expansion for Infosec  

MADISON, Wis. – Nov. 9, 2023 — Infosec Institute (“Infosec”), a leading cybersecurity education provider and part of Cengage Group, announced the appointment of Bret Fund as senior vice president and general manager. Fund brings more than two decades of experience leading education companies through transformative growth and will guide Infosec through its current growth phase as part of Cengage Work, which aims to upskill professionals through flexible and affordable online courses and deliver new talent to organizations in critical fields. 

Bret’s experience as both a seasoned general manager and entrepreneur position him well to lead the continued expansion of the Infosec business. He knows what it takes to start a business and grow it at scale,” said Alexander Broich, President of Cengage Select, General Manager for English Language Teaching and Cengage Work. Bret also brings deep subject matter expertise in IT and cybersecurity, with a keen understanding of the needs of our customers.”  

In this role, Fund will introduce stronger product processes and innovation to help Infosec grow the cybersecurity workforce and upskill talent within organizations to stay ahead of cyber threats. He also joins the Cengage Work leadership team to support efforts to help organizations close workforce skills gaps and to improve risk resiliency.

Prior to Infosec, Fund served as senior vice president at 2U, Inc., a leading online education platform company, where he oversaw its alternative credentialing technology products and programs, representing a $450 million portfolio. He also served as vice president at the Flatiron School and was the founder and CEO of SecureSet Academy, which focused on bridging the skills gap within the cybersecurity industry.
