Infosec Institute Awards Four People with Cybersecurity Boot Camp to Help Close Cyber Skills and Diversity Gap

December 15, 2023

MADISON, WI December 15, 2023 Infosec Institute, a leading cybersecurity education provider and part of Cengage Group, today announced four recipients of the 2023 Infosec Accelerate Award. Established in 2018 to encourage new talent to join the cybersecurity industry and close the growing skills gap, the Accelerate Award provides each recipient an Infosec Skills Boot Camp and certification voucher valued at up to $4,999 to help launch and advance their cybersecurity careers.

"Embracing diversity in cybersecurity is not just an ethical imperative, but a strategic advantage. By fostering a diverse workforce, we gain a wealth of perspectives, experiences and ideas that enhance our ability to tackle the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats,” said Bret Fund, Infosec SVP and General Manager. “As a leader in the cybersecurity education community, it is our responsibility to ensure the industry welcomes and empowers individuals from all backgrounds. We look forward to watching the winners as they develop their skills and advance in their cybersecurity careers.”

The winners will meet with an Infosec training advisor to discuss their career goals and skills to determine which boot camp suits them. Applications were open to four groups of people statistically underrepresented in the cybersecurity industry.

The 2023 Infosec Accelerate Award winners are:

  • Infosec Accelerate Women Award: Tracee Gleichner | Appleton, Wisconsin

  • Infosec Accelerate BIPOC Award: Jordan Smith| Lincoln, Arkansas

  • Infosec Accelerate Military & Veteran Award: Collin Reed | Cheyenne, Wyoming

  • Infosec Accelerate LGBTQI+ Award: Elle Autumn | Dallas, Texas

Infosec Skills Boot Camps are designed to support learners at every step of the certification training process. This includes pre-study materials, which help students identify knowledge gaps before their boot camp so they can maximize their time with a live, expert instructor. After their boot camp, they receive extended access to hundreds of additional materials to continue exam prep, build hands-on skills or start earning CPEs. This support before, during and after their boot camps has led to industry-leading pass rates and is why 92% of Infosec students who sit for an exam, pass their exam.
