  • Purple Team Web App – Local File Inclusion to Remote Code Execution Lab — 00:30:00
    • Local file inclusion is a common vulnerability in websites where local files can be included in a server’s response. In addition to allowing for arbitrary files to be read, this vulnerability can sometimes allow for remote code execution. In this lab, we’ll take a look at an LFI and RCE vulnerability in Gila CMS while also learning more about how to use Burp Suite.

  • PenTest+ – Vulnerability Scans Lab — 00:30:00
    • A vulnerability scanner is a computer program that identifies systems connected to a network and probes them to find security weaknesses. The systems can be servers, desktops, laptops, virtual machines, containers, firewalls, switches, and printers. Vulnerability scanners probe these devices for known vulnerabilities and can help pinpoint potential security misconfigurations in the network. Because testing for known vulnerabilities is a repetitive and time-consuming process, these tools come in handy for pentesters, allowing them to focus on more target-specific tasks.

      Using different vulnerability scanners, this lab provides practical examples and explanations on the following subjects:

      ● Vulnerability scanning

      ● Vulnerability management and prioritization

      ● Critical vulnerability identification

      ● Local privilege escalation tools

  • Common Attack Types – Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Lab — 00:30:00
    • Cross-site Scripting (XSS) is a client-side code injection attack. This vulnerability allows the attacker to insert malicious code into a legitimate website and control the victim’s browser or account. An XSS vulnerability arises when web applications take data from users and dynamically include it in web pages without properly validating them. The strength of an XSS vulnerability lies in the fact that the malicious code executes in the context of the victim’s session, allowing the attacker to bypass security restrictions. The damage caused by these types of attacks ranges from the disclosure of the user’s session cookie to website modification or installation of Trojan horse programs. Cross-site scripting can be categorized into three groups:

      ● Reflected XSS attacks

      ● Stored XSS attacks

      ● DOM-based XSS attacks
