InfoSec Institute Unveils New Online Training Courses
InfoSec Institute announced today that many of the classes offered by the institute are now available in an online format. The announcement, made early this morning, culminates a two year program agenda dedicated to deliver all classes normally only available in Instructor-Led Training (ILT) format to an online, WebBased Training (WBT) format. As the economy struggles, content development subject matter experts at InfoSec Institute recognized the need to aggressively pursue the completion of the new online offerings to accommodate reduction in corporate travel budgets.
“Considering the recent economic downturn, the need to finalize and release these new online programs became very important. Some students simply cannot afford to attend some of the open enrollment sessions, so we needed to recognize that, and provide a high-quality alternative….” Jeff Groman, Marketing Director at InfoSec Institute, explained “The market differentiator for InfoSec Institute’s online training courses, is we will heavily leverage the use of Virtual Infrastructure through our partnership with VMware, so that students can perform the same hands-on labs necessary for knowledge transfer at home or in their place of work”.
The online training programs vary in price, and include a wide array in topics. In the announcement, InfoSec Institute said it had developed an online delivery system for all of their public classes; including, but not limited to: Ethical Hacking, Reverse Engineering, Application Security, Data Recovery, and several others.
“Of course, we always suggest that individuals attend an Instructor Led or Open Enrollment session. Having access to the instructor and the physical learning environment is priceless. But the reality is that it is not always an option. So, we wanted to create a deck of online programs that we could confidently put our name on that would offer students the very next best thing to attending an Instructor-Ledsession.” Justin Poe, InfoSec Institute’s Operations Manager, noted in a recent staff meeting.
In addition, InfoSec Institute also announced that most of their online training programs will include Industry Standard Certification Vouchers. All vouchers are from industry recognized institutions, and are available for most online classes.
Each online program varies in detail, but all follow a paradigm designed to maximize the training experience. Each class contains a minimum of 35 hours of lecture video delivered by a senior InfoSec Institute instructor. Most classes also are accompanied by hands on labs, which are also delivered by an InfoSec Instructor and conducted via video and facilitated by a virtual machine. This new approach makes the online training programs relevant to both the most experienced individual, but also to the most novice. If a student is not well versed in a topic, they have access to the online labs that can help walk them through some of the more difficult topics and areas of a lab. The more advanced students tend to view and enjoy the lab presentations to either validate their data, or rather gain an additional perspective how some lab work can be completed differently. Whereas, novice students are afforded both; the systematic validation of their lab findings, or even a helping hand in a tutorial manner to help them complete certain exercises and labs with the accompaniment of an InfoSec Institute professional.
In either case, InfoSec Institute remains confident that the new offering will prove to be beneficial for both the company, and its customers.
