InfoSec Institute Selected as Training Provider for KPMG's Advisory University
InfoSec Institute has announced that KPMG has selected InfoSec Institute for a series of hands-on technical courses for the KPMG Advisory University. The first training sessions will incorporate materials from InfoSec Institute’s Ethical Hacking course. Ethical Hacking is InfoSec Institute’s premier course, and is highly relevant for technical consultants at KMPG’s Risk Advisory Practice.
The basic premise of the Ethical Hacking course is to teach security professionals how hackers gain access to their company’s networks, so they can test them for weaknesses before a bad guy does. The course covers a list of relevant topics and techniques that hackers implement when attacking networks, and then shows students how to defend against them. However, the class is not just abstract theories. Students are required to actually practice and perfect what they learned on over 40 hands on lab exercises performed in InfoSec Institute's Mobile Hacking Lab.
After receiving the literature about the Ethical Hacking course, KPMG contacted InfoSec Institute and began to move forward scheduling trainings. “They were very excited to get moving on things….”, Jamie Lichon, a Senior Account Representative at InfoSec Institute said, “They were especially excited that we actually provide all of the equipment for our Onsite trainings if requested. After all, it’s in our interest to make things as easy as possible for our customers. Bottom line; it’s our job to deliver a high quality course, and if it takes our equipment to do it, well, that’s what we’re going to do.”
Both courses have gone exceptionally well thus far. The Senior InfoSec Institute instructor assigned to teach the class, Bryce Galbraith noted, “KPMG had a few other events going on during one the sessions. You get a certain satisfaction when you hear students mingling in the break room that they’re glad to be in the most relevant class. Anyone can teach a class, but it takes good material and a certain level of fun labs for people to really get enjoyment and knowledge out of a course.”
The overall feedback from student surveys evaluated the course on average as a 4.7 on a 5.0 scale, and the second installation of courses is expected to be scheduled soon.
